shh. is a reading service for adults. We keep as little as we can, and you can delete all of it whenever you like.

What we keep

• Your stories: the pages you’ve read and the choices and words you’ve given the story.
• What the story remembers, so it can continue: names, things you asked for, and facts the story has set up.
• A name for your heroine, if you gave one.
• Your email address, only if you sign in or join a list.
• A small cookie that remembers you on this device, and simple counts of what happens on the site (for example, that a chapter was finished). If the link you followed named where it was posted, we note that too, so we know which places bring readers. No advertising or tracking scripts.

How stories are written

Each page is written live by AI. To write it, we send your story so far to a model provider. We choose providers that don’t keep what we send them and don’t train on it. We never use your stories to train models, ours or anyone else’s.

Deleting everything

Open What the story remembers and choose Delete everything. That removes your stories, what the story remembers, your email and your history, and signs you out. You can also forget single lines from the same page.
